What happens in Vegas… makes our whole team better!

Each year, we pack our bags (and our sunscreen) and head to sunny Las Vegas for the Association of Professional Piercers (APP) Conference. But it’s not just for piercers—our jewelry professionals and managers also have an opportunity join in for a week of learning, connection, and inspiration. From hands-on technique classes to deep dives into business, safety, and jewelry knowledge, this conference helps us grow as individual professionals and as a studio. We’ve gathered some of our favorite moments from the week— so come take a peek behind the scenes!

Jiinx- Advanced Jewelry Specialist

I would say my biggest take-aways were new perspectives on techniques for body piercings as well as the history of body piercings outside of the US. It was nice to learn a mixture of technique and history which are both things I was really thrilled to learn about!

Blair- Community and Client Relations

This was my third year attending the APP Conference, and it was full of fresh insights! I picked up some great tips on using social media to better educate and support our clients, along with new ideas for styling jewelry in creative ways. I’m leaving feeling inspired and excited to connect with clients in new and meaningful ways.

Erin- Shift Leader

One of my biggest takeaways was how important it is to work toward your goal jewelry from the very beginning of the piercing process. Starting with a plan helps ensure your final look comes together just how you envision it. I also loved learning more about the evolution of modern piercing—from its global history to the current standards in other parts of the world. It was fascinating to see how much the industry has grown and continues to evolve!

Keara- Studio Manager

My key takeaways were there is always room for innovation and improvement while still referencing and respecting where piercing started. I love learning about the history of body art all over the world from ancient civilization to now and how so many things have changed but many have stayed the same. Another note, the body piercing archive’s exhibitions always blow me away and this year is no exception. The attention to detail and personal history of the people involved makes it so much more relevant than just a surface level retelling.

Syndesi- Lead Piercer at Central Ave.

It had been a few years since I have attended APP, and it was really rewarding connecting with old friends in the industry, and making new ones!

Attending APP is always a fulfilling experience, and we’re incredibly grateful for the opportunity. We’re excited to share what we’ve learned, showcase some new jewelry, and connect with our amazing clients back home.

Crystal Sims- Co-Founder, Owner

I attended my first APP Conference in 1998, and it was such an extraordinary experience that I haven’t missed one since. It’s my favorite time to hug the shit out of so many people I’ve grown to love over the years, swap ideas and inspiration, and be part of both learning and teaching at the best educational event this industry has to offer.
