A Little Bit About Kallie
Kallie is from the New England area. She has been working in the piercing industry for 8 years now; starting at the front counter, and now professionally piercing for 4 years. She is passionate about creating a space where everyone feels welcome, heard, and comfortable. As a proud member of the Association of Professional Piercers, she is always striving to improve her skillset and expand her knowledge. She hopes to provide you with an experience where the piercing itself is the main feature; jewelry may change but the experience is what lasts!
We reached out to Kallie to learn more about her journey, and here’s what she shared with us:
How long have you been in the piercing industry?
I have been professionally piercing since early 2021, after completing an apprenticeship in Boston, Massachusetts. Before that I worked the front counter for 4 years, making it 8 years in the industry so far!
How did you get started?
Working the front counter for a few years helped me build close relationships with piercers that I looked up to and gave me lots of experience with jewelry! I was also part of launching dedicated curation appointments at that studio, and that gave me lots of insight into styling and placement and sparked my interest in performing piercings.
What is the biggest change you have noticed within the industry over the years?
I’ve noticed that information from professional piercers is much more accessible now—both for professionals furthering their education, and for clients to expand their knowledge!
What brings you the most joy within your job?
Making connections with people and checking in with my regular clients! Piercings take time to heal, and it is very rewarding to see a long term project come to life with someone and get to know them along the way.
What has been your favorite piercing trend lately?
I love to see trends circle back around! Eyebrow piercings or big chunky jewelry, anything giving a 90s vibe has been a recent favorite of mine!
How do you experience growth as a piercer?
I try my best to get outside of my bubble as often as possible! Guest spots and traveling for various courses and classes to better my skills and gain other perspectives has been the most impactful on my growth as a piercer!
Lastly, if you weren’t a piercer, what else would you do?
I think maybe I would be a magician, or a stand up comedian.
