APP Conference Recap
Evolution’s co-owner/founder Crystal Sims and piercer Bethany Penfold teaching “The Sparkly Bits - An Essential Guide To Gemstones in Body Jewelry”.
Recently some members of our team spent a week in Las Vegas at the annual APP (Association of Professional Piercers) Conference. There, they spent time attending classes related to our industry as well as making connections with other professionals, and exploring the new jewelry styles that were released by designers we all know and love! In this post we’re recapping the experiences our team had while there.
Classes
We had 5 staff members take more than a dozen classes each this year! Since multiple subjects of interest are often taught at the same time, some of us split up to take different classes so we could have a fuller experience and bring back as much information to our studio as possible. These classes covered topics such as:
Advanced Fundamentals of Troubleshooting
HR for the Piercing Studio
Needles: The Cutting Edge
History of Body Piercing In India
Restorative Practices and the Piercing Studio
Amongst many many many more!
Being that our industry is constantly evolving as new information comes out, it is important to us that we continue to learn new techniques, new ways to approach each other within the industry, and remember our history and where it all started.
An honorable mention goes out to Crystal and Bethany, who not only took classes to learn more this year, but also taught classes to our community. The most exciting part, outside of learning this information, is bringing our notes back with us to share with the entire team; thus improving our skills as a business!
Jewelry Expo
Now this convention isn’t solely for classes, its also an opportunity for Jewelry Vendors to gather and share with all of us the new styles of jewelry that will be releasing soon. This gave us a chance to look at the designs and styles from not only the vendors we already carry in the studio, but smaller vendors that are introducing themself to the industry as well. As a team, we were able to make decisions on behalf of the studio and bring home with us some beautiful new jewelry pieces. Keep an eye out on our social media as we introduce new vendors coming to the studio selection!
